What should I look for when selecting a mover?

First, check for the appropriate licenses. Movers need a PUC license and a Department of Transportation license. You should also get proof of appropriate insurance. Once the basics are in place, the track record of the company is the best thing to look at. Referrals should be available if you want to check references.

How far in advance do I need to schedule my move?

Generally, the more time we are notified in advance of a move, the more time we have to obtain the date you request. However, we've had customers book a move 1 day in advance! We understand that moving is hectic and Bekins will do our best to accommodate your needs in scheduling your move.

Bekins offers packing, crating and unpacking services. If customers prefer to pack their own goods, we have a wide variety of materials available to purchase for packing.

What happens if I need storage?

Bekins can provide storage for your belongings at our local warehouse in Burlingame, California. If you require storage in the area you are moving, we can make arrangements for this too. Storage is available for as little as a day to several years.

How do I pay for my move?

If you are moving locally, your move can be paid for with cash, personal check or credit card. Moves out of the area may be paid by cash, certified funds or credit cards.

Do you provide information in writing?

You will receive a printout of your computerized estimate before our Representative leaves your residence. This outlines what is to be moved and how much it will cost. Additionally, you will receive the required information and literature on our company.

Do you provide packing material?

We have a wide variety of packing material avaiable to purchase. Additionally, on local moves we provide wardorbes on move day at no extra charge. We also have used material avaiable at reduced costs and frequently at no charge when avaiable.
